Volunteer

Penistone FM is run by volunteers, from the members of the board to every other role on the station.

Unlike some other stations, we have a very specific policy that all volunteers must multitask, what that means is if all you want to do is present a radio programme and go home, then Penistone FM is not for you.

We need volunteers who will help out with Marketing, Fundraising, attending events, interviewing as well as the easy stuff like presenting a program.

Volunteer Roles

The main role most people are interested in when contacting Penistone FM is the role of On Air presenter, and there is nothing wrong with that, we do need people on air - specifically we need people with an interest in a genre of music, such as Brass, Folk etc

However if you are going to undertake any role at Penistone FM, you need to be prepared to do a range of the following roles

• Marketing
• Training
• Answering The Phone
• Cleaning The Office
• Interviewing
• Fundraising
• Attending Local Events

Firstly, you should download the form here and email it to Martin Sugden.

This just lets us know you are interested and we will be in touch shortly.

You will be invited down to the station for a chat, a look around and to inform you of our expectations and procedures.

If you then decide after a short period of reflection that you wish to join, we will ask you for the relevant identification and paperwork for us to conduct CRB checks. We will also require a one off £10 payment, this helps towards the cost of the checks and is non refundable in ANY circumstance.

When your clearance has come through from your references and CRB check, you will be assigned a mentor and begin your training and what we hope will be a long and rewarding period of volunteering at Penistone FM.
