Penistone History Group Talks

Penistone History Group is a lively group who meet every other Wednesday afternoon in St John’s Community Centre for a talk or demonstration by invited speakers.

The next two meetings are on:

September 5th, Paul Stebbings chief archivist for Barnsley will be talking about recent documents found in Penistone.

September 19th, Maureen S Taylor will discuss an Elizabethan Lady’s Wardrobe.

Admission £1.50 and includes Tea and a biscuit. Talks start at 2pm.

Penistone History and Archive Group also look after the Penistone Archive, which is open on Market days in the Lower Hall of the Community Centre.

The group is on the look-out for Penistone Almanacs, local historical photos or anything relating to local history. It is better kept in Penistone than stored and forgotten elsewhere.
