Penistone Town Council Minutes Monday 20th June 2016

A member of the public asked if we were ever going to see Yellow lines around Green Road junction and complained about the grass cutting as it was all over paths and was very slippy in wet weather. Also it was clogging grates up and was a false economy not picking it up.

Karen Senior gave a short presentation regarding the Peoples Focus Group which was aimed at people who are lonely or have long term illness. The group is to meet in Café Generation to decide on activities, have  a coffee and make friends.

Ward Alliance – the money for defibrillators has been approved.

There is to be a meeting at Penistone Library on 7th July between 3.00pm and 6.00pm regarding consultation over routes as there is to be a big cut in services in the area.

The Clean and Tidy team are looking for areas to clean.

Pigeon infestation between Clarke’s chemist and Cinammon Spice. The Clean and Tidy team are to jet wash the ginnel.

The Somme Centenary day is to be on 1st July at 10am at the cenotaph, St John’s church .

There is to be a 10k road race on Sunday 26th June around Penistone run by the Footpath runners with 300 participants.

Coun.Millner reported that hopefully 99.9% of residents should receive improved Broadband.

Extra financial assistance was awarded to the Round Table to run the Gala.

The clerk reported that pottery classes were now being held at the Resource Centre on Mondays.

The neighbourhood plan roadshow is being held this Saturday 10.00am-12noon at Thurlstone School and 1.00pm – 3.00pm at Millhouse  Institute. Also at Cubley Hall on 28th June 6.30pm-8.30pm.
