I’m proud to be one of the first wave of presenters to be trained when Penistone FM first began broadcasting. My previous radio experience was gained at YMCA Radio Barnsley in 1999. I’ve had a passion for media since uni in the early ’90′s, and have done various things from a little bit of backstage work at live events to video production. I love quizzes, with brainteasers being a regular part of my show!
Q. What’s the worst job you’ve ever had?
A. I spent precisely one day handing out leaflets for a double glazing company. I was one of those annoying people you see in town centres with a clipboard trying to stop you and sell you stuff. It felt like the whole world was ignoring me. Never again.
Q. On my nights off you’ll mostly find me….
A. Catching up on my Sky+, watching dvd’s, mostly just being a couch potato!
Q. What’s the first record you ever bought?
A. Def Leppard, “Adrenalize” Rock and roll!!!!
Q. What would be your desert island disc?
A. Anything by my favourite bands Muse, The Black Keys or Elbow.
Q. Where is your favourite place in the world?
A. Went to Prague a few years ago (for the culture) and loved it, but my favourite place is home.
Q. Name one thing you are passionate about.
A. Movies. I guess I’m a frustrated film director.
Q. If you were’nt doing this you’d be….
A. See above.
Q. What is your favourite youtube video?
A. Too many to mention. But any of the fan-made Star Wars videos (especially lightsaber duelling videos) are great. Yes, I’m a nerd.
Q. Which celeb would play you in a movie of your life?
A. Comedian David Mitchell. People say we look alike. But not since I grew the beard.
Q. Best gig ever attended?
A. Sigur Ros at the Empress Ballroom in Blackpool, November ’08.
Q. What song gets you on the dancefloor?
A. I’m far too shy to dance…..
Q. What song gets you on the karaoke mic?
A. Funnily enough, the same as Andy Millner, “Delilah”, by Tom Jones!
Q. What is on your MP3 player?
A. Don’t actually own one! Shocking, I know! Getting an iPod is on the To-Do list.
Q. Who is the nicest celebrity you have met and why?
A. Toby Foster. Bumped into him at the supermarket once. Nice chap. Went to college with Simon Hirst. Does that count?
Q. Have you ever been locked in/stuck somewhere embarrassing before?
A. Got locked in a pitch-black storeroom on my work experience at MFI. The recurring nightmares continue to this day.
Q. If you were on the show Come Dine With Me, what would you cook for your guests?
A. It would be a chinese/indian mash-up, starting with dim sun, main course chicken tikka with egg fried rice, finishing with some lovely vanilla ice cream and wafers. Then I’d just have to hide the carrier bags that the delivery man used.
Q. What do you like doing when not on the radio?
A. Going to the movies, listening to music, socialising and working on material for my next show.
Q. What is in your pockets right now?
A. About £2.70 in change, a USB stick, keys and my poor, poor phone.
Q. If you could compare youreself to a chocolate bar, what would it be and why?
A. A Yorkie, because I’m chunky.
Q. What job would you like to do if you didn’t work in radio?
A. See above. Film Director!
Q. What is the first thing you do when you wake up?
A. Look at the clock, and decide to have a lie in.
Q. What are you scared of?
A. Werewolves and vegetables.
