Fairtrade Fortnight has just started and to celebrate this year, Fairtrade in Penistone have arranged a fun evening entitled   “A Fairtrade Curry Night at René’s Café”.   René will welcome us to his café and he and his friends (alias the Penistone Players) will entertain us while we enjoy a full meal with wine provided by members of St John’s Church.  There will be a fairly traded two course meal of chicken or vegetarian curry and rice, a pudding and a glass of wine or juice, followed by tea or coffee.

Tickets need to be bought in advance and are available from

  • Clark’s Chemist,
  • the Traidcraft shop next to the Country Market in St John’s Community Centre on Thursday mornings and
  • St John’s Church itself on Thursday and Saturday mornings.
  • available to order on our website Penistonefairtrade@gmail.com

Tickets cost £8 for adults and £4 for children.  Numbers are limited so people wishing to come should buy their tickets early as they are selling fast.
