Penistone History Group is a lively group who meet every other Wednesday afternoon in St John’s Community Centre for a talk or demonstration by invited speakers

The next two meetings are on:

Wednesday 6th March:  Antiques and Stately Homes A talk by Bob Soper, a speaker with more than twenty years experience of working in stately homes.

Wednesday 20th March:  The Workhouse System Susan Deal will talk about a fearful feature of the 19th century – the Workhouses, which were often called ‘Bastiles.’

Registration is at 1.45pm for a 2pm start for both meetings.

Admission £2 and includes Tea and a biscuit

Penistone History and Archive Group also look after the Penistone Archive, which is open on Market days in the Lower Hall of the Community Centre.

The group is on the look-out for Penistone Almanacs, local historical photos or anything relating to local history. It is better kept in Penistone than stored and forgotten elsewhere. For more information Tel: 01226 766 827
