What is the NCFE Award in Radio?
- Fancy getting involved with Penistone FM, your local radio station?
- Want to earn a NCFE level 1/2 qualification in Radio?
- Are you aged 16 to 100 years old?
Penistone FM can offer everyone in the local community the opportunity of undertaking radio training and gaining a recognised radio qualification, no matter what your age.
The NCFE Award in Radio covers a number of things such as planning, researching and creating a two minute news bulletin, presenting on the radio – whether that be a five minute link about a subject which fascinates you or a full hour’s show, finding out about jobs in the radio industry, recording and editing audio, interviewing people, learning some technical aspects of microphones or even Health and Safety in the studio. Most is assessed as a natural part of the course, with very little writing actually involved, and at the end of it, you’ll have a GCSE level qualification which is nationally recognised and valued.
The training is a mix of theory and hands-on practical experience useful for anyone with an interest in media, wishing to build their confidence or even take up a new hobby. Training will take place in our training studio at Penistone FM.
Sessions can be tailored to suit you, from a couple of hours once a week for a number of weeks or maybe over an intensive one-day session. Numbers are strictly limited to ensure that everyone on the training receives a worthwhile experience; you will work in either small groups, in pairs as well as individually.
