Funeral for a dear friend

A quiet, reverent funeral service was held in St John’s Church in Penistone at 10.30 am on Friday 15th May 2015 for Peter Johnson, beloved husband of Jay.

In line with Jay’s instructions, people didn’t dress in black, but in less formal colours. Indeed, one of the coffin bearers wore a bright red T-shirt.

Peter had been one of the earliest volunteers at Penistone FM and was in charge of the news team, sourcing stories and asking volunteers to set up and record interviews for the station. Penistone FM volunteers attended his funeral to show their support and high regard for Peter who will be greatly missed by us all.

After the church service, the funeral party moved to Grenoside for a short service of cremation.

Everyone at Penistone FM wishes to send their best regards to Jay and her children at this very difficult time, and to thank Father David for his uplifting words at the service.
