Raising money to cure Prostate Cancer

November 25th at the Penistone Paramount

Damien O’Kane is an award winning, well-renowned Irish folk musician and singer now living in Barnsley since his marriage to Barnsley folk songstress, Kate Rusby. Since Kate’s father was diagnosed with Prostate Cancer in 2012 (now recovered), Damien was compelled to do something to raise both awareness and money for the cause.

It’s a long time coming but this event is, in O’Kane’s own words, “hopefully the first of many where we can raise awareness of this disease, through the power of music, in this case folk music. Raising awareness of any cancer brings all cancers to the fore. Music brings people together, this creates discussion and further encourages people to think more about particular issues. For the event, I’ve invited some of the best folk musicians and singers on the folk and acoustic scene right now”

Not just one event but an Afternoon Concert at 1:30 and an Evening Concert at 6:30, both on sale now directly from Penistone Paramount website.

The amazing line up goes as follows:

*Kate Rusby – The Barnsley Nightingale,

*Lori Watson – a stunning singer from the Scottish Borders

*Ross Ainslie & Ali Hutton with Jenn Butterworth – also from Scotland,

*Jack Rutter – local lad Jack from Shepley

*Dave Burland & The Awkward Squad – Former policeman Dave Burland is a

bit of a ‘folk-god.’

*Mawkin – Essex-based quintet

Go see for yourselves!
