The Crow Edge wood fire is now out, South Yorkshire Fire Service say. But concerns about  site remain.

They say that with large amounts of wood still on the site, and the potential of ‘hot spots’ in other wood stacks, fire crews will continue to monitor conditions because of a risk of other fires breaking out.

The fire, which has been burning for almost two weeks, is the second to have happened on the site in recent weeks, so the fire service is considering all possible measures to help prevent future fires, including possible legal action.

The fire service will also be liaising with the local community and partner agencies over its concerns about the site, again in a bid to help stop another incident like this from occurring and to provide reassurance to the public
