A Flood Alert has been issued by the Environment Agency for the River Don Upper Catchment.   Flooding is possible for River Don and its tributaries from Penistone to Kelham Island in Sheffield .

Low lying land and roads will be affected first.   Be prepared. Saturday’s rainfall has caused a response in river levels in the River Don and its tributaries. The River Don catchment is already saturated from recent rainfall meaning rivers levels are being very responsive to this rain and will remain high throughout Saturday. The main rainfall has now passed and the river in Penistone has peaked.

The river level recording station used for this flood alert is Penistone, Wharncliffe Side, Malinbridge – Be prepared to protect yourself, family, pets and property.
